On the 28th and 29th of March 2011 Allison and I attended the Chamber of Minerals and Energy Safety and Health Expo and Conference. The conference itself was an excellent conference and both myself and Allison took a lot from the presentations given. We were fortunate enough to be invited there to present as part of the CME Safety and Innovation Awards as a finalist in the engineering category. Each of the 12 finalists were given a few minutes during the first day to present their innovation.

Rio Tinto and SKM between them won the three category awards. The judges also gave an additional 'highly commended' award to Safescape and the final award for the night was chosen by a vote from the conference delegates after the presentations earlier in the day. Safescape was awarded this 'industry choice' award. It was a fantastic experience for myself and an opportunity to thank the Safescape team and our clients at the various sites around Australia who have been so helpful in assisting us by taking on the role of innovators, managing the change to our new product and assisting us with ideas to help us to further develop Laddertube for the future.
